Christ the King is a well-equipped, purpose built Catholic Secondary School, opened by Bishop Ellis in 1971. The school is a mixed 11-18 Catholic Comprehensive and is situated in a pleasant suburban area to the North East of Nottingham. It has its own very extensive playing fields and the buildings include specialist suites for: Modern Languages, Music, English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Design and Technology, Information Communication Technology, Learning Resources, Humanities and Religious Education. The buildings also house a chapel, lecture theatre and media centre, assembly hall, gymnasium, sports hall and dining hall. The new purpose built 6th Form Centre was opened in the autumn of 2003 by Bishop Malcolm McMahon.

11 pieces of ACM-3411 1.3 Megapixel Indoor IP Fixed Dome Cameras, offering clear video with much better resolution and details than traditional CCTV analog cameras. 6 pieces of ACM-1231, the all-in-one IP IR Bullet Cameras with IP66, vandal resistant, and IR LED, provided clear video quality at night outside. All cameras were linked back to one central control room via the network and run off one server, completing a comprehensive surveillance system in school.

Moreover, unlike traditional DVR systems which typically only provide 4, 8, 16, 32 channels, ACTi unified IP solution is scalable up to 64 cameras, which offer extendibility for the school.


For Christ the King, the main advantages is that the megapixel picture quality for superior image quality and license plate recognition, which the security can easily recognize every car enters the campus. Secondly, the scalability, allowance with future expansion to add more cameras without requiring a new NVR. Thirdly, it is easy to integrate with door entry control, alarm & lighting.
